Brighton Palace Pier I

Regular price £60.00 £0.00 Unit price per
Tax included.

Opened in 1899, the Palace Pier was the third in Brighton, following the Royal Suspension Chain Pier in 1823 and the West Pier in 1866, and cost a record £27,000 (the equivalent. of £3,062,000 in 2019) to build.

The pier was an immediate success and quickly became one of the most popular landmarks in Brighton and it's theatre saw both Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin honing their comic skills early in their career, before migrating to the US and finding major commercial success in Hollywood.

It has featured in many film and tv productions but, despite the liberal culture in Brighton generally, this Grade II listed Victorian masterpiece has retained a traditional down-market "bucket and spade" seaside atmosphere.
